Rethinking Dentistry as the Gateway to Whole-Body Health
The mouth is often the first place the body signals imbalance, and the dental chair is one of the few places where patients are seen regularly for wellness care. In this lecture, Dr. Amanda Seay explores how wellness dentistry connects oral health to whole-body health, and how clinicians can bring that philosophy into everyday practice.
PRESENTED BY
Dr. Amanda Seay
Dr. Seay will explain the role of oral pH and the oral microbiome in disease and resilience. She'll show how the oral-nitrate pathway supports nitric oxide production and cardiovascular health, how salivary diagnostics can reveal risk before symptoms appear, and how nutrition supports healing and long-term oral health.
GUEST SPEAKER Dr. McCall Rupp
Associate Dentist, Expertise Dental
Dr. McCall Rupp is a wellness-focused restorative dentist with 10 years of clinical experience. She earned her Doctor of Dental Medicine degree from the Medical University of South Carolina and has completed advanced education through the Kois Center and the imPRES cosmetic dentistry program. She is SMART-certified through the International Academy of Oral Medicine and Toxicology and incorporates safe amalgam removal and biologically informed treatment principles into her daily practice.
Dr. Rupp's interest in oral-systemic health began during dental school with her own health journey and has evolved into a practical approach that connects modern dentistry with whole-body wellness. Her clinical focus includes salivary diagnostics, oral microbiome management, material biocompatibility, nutritional support, and the use of bloodwork to improve treatment planning and surgical readiness.
In this course, Dr. Rupp will cover three areas where dentistry and functional medicine meet:
01 Biocompatibility testing
Choosing restorative materials that work with each patient's body.
02 Supplementation
Evidence-informed strategies that support oral and systemic health.
03 Bloodwork
How lab markers can guide dental treatment planning and reveal what the mouth alone can't show.
The course closes with practical guidance on communicating and marketing wellness services authentically: positioning the practice, educating patients, and building a care model patients value and seek out. Participants will leave with a new lens on the mouth as a window to the body, and a clear path to offering wellness-centered care with confidence.
