The Idea

The mouth is often the first place the body signals imbalance.

The dental chair is one of the few places where patients are seen regularly for wellness care. Mouth First is built around that idea. Over two days you will learn how oral health connects to whole-body health, see how clinicians bring that philosophy into everyday practice, and spend real time restoring yourself in a setting designed for it.

Come for the science. Stay for the lake air, the long tables, and the colleagues you will want to keep talking to after the weekend ends.

A Fully Immersive Retreat

Half the day to learn. Half the day to restore. Both days follow the same rhythm: a focused morning of teaching, an afternoon that belongs to you and the group, and an evening at the table.

  1. Learn

    morning

A half-day lecture each morning from Dr. Amanda Seay and Dr. McCall Rupp, two clinicians who practice wellness dentistry every day. Bring your questions and leave with ideas you can put in front of your team on Monday.

  2. Restore

    afternoon

Spa services and group retreat time fill the afternoons. The setting does part of the teaching. How you feel after a day like this is the experience your patients are looking for.

  3. Gather

    evening

Both nights end with a curated group dinner. Colleagues get room to talk through what they heard, compare how their practices run, and build relationships that outlast the weekend.

The Program

Fri · Jul 9

Friday Morning Lecture

Mouth First

Dr. Seay explores how wellness dentistry connects oral health to whole-body health, and how clinicians can bring that philosophy into everyday practice.

  • Oral pH and the microbiome The role of oral pH and the oral microbiome in disease and resilience, and what that means for how you read a patient's mouth.
  • The oral-nitrate pathway How it supports nitric oxide production and cardiovascular health, and why it connects the chair to the whole body.
  • Salivary diagnostics How they can reveal risk before symptoms appear, and where they fit appropriately in your exam flow.
  • Nutrition and healing How nutrition supports healing and long-term oral health, and how to bring that conversation into the operatory.

Saturday Morning Guest Session

Where Dentistry and Functional Medicine Meet

Dr. Rupp covers three areas of her daily clinical work, then closes with the practice-building side of wellness care.

  • Biocompatibility testing Choosing restorative materials that work with each patient's body, and how testing guides material selection in real cases.
  • Supplementation Evidence-informed strategies that support oral and systemic health, and how to discuss them with patients responsibly.
  • Bloodwork How lab markers can guide dental treatment planning and reveal what the mouth alone can't show, including surgical readiness.
  • Marketing wellness services Practical guidance on communicating and marketing wellness care authentically, so patients understand it, trust it, and ask for it by name.
